Well…yes, it usually is. In business however, most entrepreneurs have forgot about this idea. It’s easy to get caught up in the “take” and forget to give back. A billionaire once told me “the greatest thing in life you can do is mentor someone”. At the time, I didn’t even think I was worthy to lead or teach someone. I later realized in life that the skills that I have learned in sales, installations and in general business are worth something. If I don’t share those gifts than what am I even good for?
If you aren’t giving back, then start. Find a cause that you believe in and start donating some time. Don’t do if for selfish reasons or with the expectation that your efforts will be blessed a thousand-fold, do it because it is the right thing to do. God has blessed you…you should probably return the favor.
I personally like to work with “The Lion Project”. They are a nonprofit that utilizes their skills in video to bring other nonprofits to light. They constantly give back to the community and selflessly give back.
The latest project we did was for the youth. We simply laid some floors down and completely changed the hearts and minds of the community. It was a great experience, and I realized that God gave me a ton of talents that I can offer to other nonprofits and give back to the community. I finally realized how I can give myself and skills back.
I challenge everyone who reads this to do the same. Just reach out. Find a way to give back. You will be amazed at how rewarding that is…and I’m not talking monetarily. If you give with the intention to receive, then you are doing it for all the wrong reasons. That’s just my two cents anyway!
Take a look at the last project we did and let us know if you would like to come out and help again on August 3rd, where we are doing three more floors.
